Scholastic Art & Writing Awards
Scholastic Art & Writing Awards is the nation's longest-running and the most prestigious
recognition program for creative young people in grades 7-12. Around 320,000 original works are
submitted across the united States each year. Annual celebration and student showcase are held
at prominent places such as Carnegie Hall, United Nations, Rockefeller Center, and Roosevelt
Hotel in New York City. Selected art works have the opportunity to be presented in the White
House. Artistic Minds Art Studio is proud to announce that our students have been receiving the
most awards at the regional level. Each year, students from our studio also receive different
awards at the National level. Students' art works from our studio have also been published in
The New York Times. John Tang receives the National Best Educator Award every year. To view
students' work, please go to student Gallery below.
Art Classes
The studio offers pencil, ink, charcoal, and watercolor drawings as well as acrylic and oil
paintings. Students are grouped based on their ages and previous experiences. There are
maximum 7 students in each class. Each class is 2 hours long. There are normally 10 classes
per semester and classes run every other week. It is highly recommended that all students
should take classes for at least one semester. After that, students may continue classes as
they wish. We also help high school seniors to prepare portfolios for college admissions.
Summer Camp
There are no regular classes in the summer. However, summer camp is available. Summer camp
registration begins in May every year. Museum and nature drawing/painting trips are also scheduled.
Fee
$50 per hour, excluding materials.
Make Up Class Policy
Please inform the studio 24 hours in advance in the case of absences. Only One Makeup class is
offered each semester. In the event of missing two or more classes, makeup classes and refund
will not be offered. If a class is cancelled due to weather, tuition refund will be issued.

John Tang receives National Outstanding Educator Award every year.
